The ASO and Windmill Performing Arts, Australia’s flagship performing arts company for children and family audiences, will join forces to present a unique and theatrical double bill with a twist. Two very different productions will provide an hour of wonderfully presented make believe, which will feature not only the orchestra, but a narrator, performers and a choir.
Favourite Children’s author, Lemony Snicket, brings his distinctively lugubrious charm and imagination to The Composer is Dead and Granpa – a “who done it” mystery with a difference. The music and story takes young audiences on an investigative hunt through the ranks of the orchestral instruments when a composer is discovered “lifeless”. Which instrument is responsible?
Howard Blake, composer of the children’s classic, The Snowman, his written another new hit with Granpa. Emily, an eager young explorer of fanciful fanstasies and her affable, indulgent Granpa live out a range of exciting ventures. From conducting a jungle safari to dancing the night away at a ball, who knows what the next turn will hold!
