Master Series 14 - The Four Seasons

Friday 3 December, 8pm

Saturday 4 December, 6:30pm

Adelaide Town Hall

James Ehnes: Conductor and violin

Beethoven: Romances 1 and 2, Opp. 40 and 50

Elgar: Serenade for Strings
Vivaldi: The Four Seasons

International star violinist, James Ehnes, reprises his sensational 2008 performances with the ASO this time as both soloist and conductor. Ehnes, who invariably has audiences swooning and critics delving into the thesaurus for new superlatives, performs Beethoven’s two
Romances for Violin and Orchestra, exquisite jewel-like miniatures full of courtly elegance, proving that even Beethoven could be a‘god of small things’. After Elgar’s richly melodic serenade, Ehnes and the ASO strings combine incandescence and ice in a knife edge
performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, destined to obliterate forever every memory of this masterwork heard in an elevator or shopping mall.
