ASO on tour with…Lachlan Bramble

What did our players see and do while on tour? Our Acting Principal Second Violin, Lachlan Bramble shares some photos and reflects on the ASO’s momentous tour of China and South Korea.

Pinchas Zukerman has a story for every occasion. Here Caleb Wright hangs off his every word.
Shirin Lim introducing the violin to some eager Shanghai children. A quick pizzicato was impossible to resist.
Natsuko Yoshimoto backstage with Premier Steven Marshall at the sensational Shanghai Symphony Hall.
Jackie and Dean catching up with Alan Pratt on the Great Wall. Alan studies American literature in Beijing was our chaperone last year when ASO Bush Concert travelled to Harbin.

ASO percussionists Steve, Jamie and Amanda descending the Great Wall the fun way. Warriors of the Qing Dynasty didn’t have it this easy.
Simon Lord helping Maestro Zukerman with some last minute adjustments to the score in Tongyeong, South Korea.
‘Like playing inside a Stradivarius’ – Symphony Hall in Shanghai. Will it fit in cabin luggage?
Lots of people in ‘The People’s Square’, Shanghai. Why doesn’t my garden grow like that?
Touring the Guangzhou Opera House in Guangzhou. Beautiful natural light on the outside and delicious acoustics on the inside.
Caleb Wright and Mitch Berick preparing a musical treat for the Australian ambassador in Beijing.
ASO musicians sticking closely together amongst the masses in Tiananmen Square, Beijing.

This tour has been made possible through the generous support of the SA Government, Major Sponsor BHP, the Federal Government via the Australia-Korea Foundation, and with particular thanks to the following donors: Didy McLaurin, Robert Kenrick, Peter & Pamela McKee, Joan Lyons, Nunn Dimos Foundation, and Vincent and Sandra Ciccarello.
