Unsung Hero - A Letter from Edgar's Grandson

Friday, March 15, 2019 9:12am

In March, we celebrated the music of South Australian unsung hero, Edgar Tattersall, in a series of three special concert presentations in the Yorke Peninsula and one in North Adelaide. Featuring re-imaginings of a selection of his original songs, marches and dance compositions, these free concerts explored the way that the creative arts can shape our understanding of history.

One of Edgar Tattersall's grandsons, Geoff Tattersall, took the time to tell us a little bit about Edgar, and the families response to the news his fathers work was to be performed by the ASO.

International Women's Day is observed on 8 March every year, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The theme for 2019 is #BalanceforBetter, with a specific aim to build a gender-balanced world, and calls for collective action and shared responsibility. By celebrating the presence of balance and challenging it's absence - year round, not isolated to this one day - we help to bring everyone closer to equality.

With this in mind, we'd like to celebrate the new Chair of our Board of Directors, Kate Gould.
