Free Family Fun at FOFO
Held over two consecutive weekends 27-28 November and 4-5 December at Adelaide Showground, ASO’s Free Family Fun days will have something for everyone young and old.

The program is a whole lot of FREE musical fun to be had outdoors. ASO have put together a fun filled line-up of musical entertainment suitable for all ages and abilities that will have you up and grooving to the beat from big band, the mambo and cha-cha as well as classic to contemporary orchestral music.
- Concerts Performances from a wide range of community groups and ASO performers
- Workshops Interactive workshops will introduce children and adults alike to a wide range of musical styles
- Food and Drink Treats and healthy meals to refuel are available from a great selection of pop up food trucks, throughout the day
- Entertainment Roving balloon makers, stilt walkers and marching bands will keep your kids entertained all day
- Sound and Sensory-friendly break-out tent developed in partnership with Can:Do 4Kids

Create your own rain stick, rhythm rocks or even a magic conductor’s baton in this crafty creative instrument making session. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
2.40–3.20pm | Stage
Latin Ensemble
The Elder Conservatorium Latin Ensemble is a vibrant and energetic 22-member juggernaut playing Mambo, Son, Cha Cha and a bit of funk! They play tunes by Tito Puento, Tito Rodriguez and director Mark Simeon Ferguson and are joined by the Con’s jazz trumpet teacher Lazaro Numa, an international star of the Cuban musical tradition.

Body Beats
Facilitated by renowned drummer Kyrie Anderson, stomp, pat clap and snap your way through this fun and interactive workshop. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
3.50–4.30pm | Stage
Army Band Adelaide
The Australian Army Band Adelaide will have your toes tapping as they present everything from jazz to classical and Broadway to rock. This program will showcase the versatility of your own Australian Army Band in a feast of musical delights that is sure to entertain audiences of all ages.
4.30–5.00pm | Workshop Tent
Body Beats
Facilitated by renowned drummer Kyrie Anderson, stomp, pat clap and snap your way through this fun and interactive workshop. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Join multi-instrumentalist Adam Page on a wild musical ride that will explain just how awesome it is to be a musician, and proving there’s a musician in all us – whether we know it or not!

The youngest members of your family will discover different instruments through interactive stories, songs and musical demonstrations.

K&N Brass
Join K&N Brass for an entertaining program of brass band music. Featuring a selection of classical, popular and movie tunes, this concert will have something for everyone to enjoy.

Creative Music Workshop
Come and engage in a fun, fast and energised creative music workshop where we create a new piece of music together in under an hour! Open to children aged 8 and up and suitable for all levels of musical experience (including total beginners). Bring your instrument if you play one, or use the percussion instruments that we provide. This session will be delivered by the Open Music Academy, the outreach program run by University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music. Led by acclaimed musician and educator Julian Ferraretto, with special guest artist Vonda Last, a Ngaanyatjarra singer and songwriter.

Orchestra Fantastica!
Have you ever heard an oboe? Or seen how blowing air through your lips can make a trumpet work? Join presenters Susan Ferguson and Peter Duggan as they get up close and personal with the instruments of the orchestra. With energetic songs and groovy dance moves you can join in and find out what makes the orchestra so fantastica!

Royal Australian Navy Band SA Jazz Ensemble
The RAN Band SA Jazz Ensemble is a vibrant combination featuring trumpet, tenor and alto saxophone, trombone, rhythm section and vocals. Be treated to rich arrangements of jazz standards and original pieces composed by the band’s own players, highlighting the diverse musical talents of our local musicians.

Tale of the Fire Phoenix
The ancient Greeks and Egyptians described a mythical bird called the Phoenix, a magnificent creature that was a symbol of renewal and rebirth. According to legend, each Phoenix lived for 500 years, and only one Phoenix lived at a time. Just before its time was up, the Phoenix built a nest and set itself on fire.
Discover this story, told through music by composer Zhao Liang.

Experience the true Big Band sound as the Elder Con Big Band showcase an entertaining selection of music from the traditions of Count Basie and Duke Ellington through to contemporary classics.
