Fantastic Symphonies - Schools Concerts

Paul Rissmann - Presenter
Graham Abbott - Conductor

Story-telling, politics, emotion, scandal and controversy. Having evolved over time, and taken on many guises, the story of the symphony is a long and colourful one.

Paul Rissmann’s Fantastic Symphonies explores selected movements from four of history’s greatest symphonies – Haydn’s Symphony No.104, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, Mahler’s Symphony No.5, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5.

In an interactive performance, students of all levels will discover how the music of these four great composers has played a pivotal role in shaping the symphonic form.
