Big Rehearsals

Benjamin Northey - Conductor

"I will never forget my first Big Rehearsals back when the ASO were in the ABC Studio in 2001. We were conducted by Graham Abbott and we played Raymond Scott’s Power House, Patterson’s To The Summit and the last two movements of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4. It was a very inspiring night!"
Anthony Radogna

Our ever popular Big Rehearsals are back in 2018! The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra welcomes young music students into Grainger Studio for an exciting orchestral experience.

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Associate Conductor Benjamin Northey will rehearse students through a selection of repertoire while they sit right next to mentors from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

At the end of the day, there will be a special open rehearsal giving family and friends the opportunity to witness what has been achieved. Just like musicians in the ASO, students will receive practice parts only a few weeks prior to the rehearsal. This is a great introductory experience to the orchestra and is highly recommended for budding orchestral musicians.
