Elders announced as Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Major Regional Touring Partner

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Managing Director Vincent Ciccarello announces Elders as the ASO’s new Major Regional Partner.

Through this partnership the ASO will continue to play a leading role in nurturing the cultural life of our vibrant state and nourishing the souls of South Australians.

Of the partnership, Mr Ciccarello said, “Our regional touring provides a unique opportunity for South Australians of all ages – from primary school students to older people – to engage with music and experience orchestral music that they may never have heard performed live. We are very grateful to Elders for their support, as it enables the ASO to reach regional centres that otherwise miss out on the special full orchestra experience”.

The ASO and Elders are committed to ensuring more South Australians have access and engagement with the arts by showing a dedicated commitment to concerts across South Australia. In addition to public concerts, the ASO performs in schools, allowing regional students and all South Australians the opportunity to be inspired by live orchestral music.

Since 1839, Elders has been an integral part of Australia’s rural business landscape. The sponsorship is part of Elders ongoing commitment to support sustainable cultural development in regional and remote communities in Australia. Elders is committed to giving back to the community.

The partnership will commence with a regional road trip in Port Lincoln with concerts on 17 & 18 April 2021. It will form part of the SALT Festival held on the Southern Eyre Peninsula.

I’d encourage those with a passion for music to book a weekend away, explore the region and see the ASO back on the stage in the Southern Eyre Peninsula”. Mr Ciccarello said.

The SALT festival provides a platform for artists and contributors to showcase their ideas and to interact. It is an opportunity to make connections across topics and genres to build a new and innovative community. SALT festival celebrates the impact of people converging through creative practice in arts, innovation, culture, conferences and discussion, providing platforms for innovators and professionals to contribute and connect.

SALT Festival is delighted to be hosting a once in a generation visit to Port Lincoln by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for a ‘Symphony by the Sea. We are delighted to offer three concerts 17 – 18 April. This will be first visit by the full ASO to the city since 1954. The ASO team will work with young people and local musicians in the lead up delivering workshops, and performances, as well as mentoring the City Band.  We appreciate the support from the Premier, State Government through Arts SA, Country Arts SA, the ASO, our philanthropic partner, the Lang Foundation and from our sponsors who have been extraordinary in helping us make this possible.  It will be an awe-inspiring musical showcase event to remember. All aboard! Charismatic maestro Guy Noble will steer you on a sea-faring journey through music inspired by the wonder and mystery of the life aquatic, from the crashing sea waves of Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, to Henry Woods’ beloved Fantasia on British Sea Songs. Joined by a 55-strong Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and soprano Desiree Frahn, Symphony by the Sea is sure to be a smooth sailing musical adventure.

In addition to the Salt Festival performances families will be delighted as the orchestra performs the musical version of Are We There Yet? the much-loved and quintessential Australian picture book by Alison Lester. Commissioned last year by Adelaide composer David John Lang who wrote the score and has brought this much-loved picture book to life.
