Australian born conductor Jessica Gethin has been hailed by audiences and critics for her stellar musicianship, vibrant energy and charismatic stage presence.

Listed by Limelight Magazine in the ‘2017 Top Twenty Australian Artists of the Year’, Jessica’s musical experience covers a wide range of genres, with an international schedule seeing her perform throughout the United States, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. She is fast being recognised for her repertoire diversity, as she moves effortlessly between conducting core symphonic works, to opera, ballet and film score. This commitment to exploring such breadth of repertoire has seen her work on concert stages with internationally acclaimed singers from Bryn Terfel to Chrissy Amphlette; conducting operatic gala celebrations to rock icons in symphonic programmes and directing unique project collaborations with jazz and world musicians including James Morrison, Kate Ceberano and Richard Walley.

Across all her work, Jessica is committed to championing classical music as it enters the twenty first century. Her dedication to uphold integrity for the score, combined with bold programming choices and a natural flair for communicating with the audience, has contributed to her rapidly growing profile as a leader in the industry. She is also recognised for writing, presenting and conducting her own symphonic programs and family concerts.

In 2011 Jessica was appointed Chief Conductor of the Perth Symphony Orchestra (Western Australia). Highlights from her tenure include a performance of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony winning ‘Best of the West’, co-directing the sold out ‘Reimagined’ series, to conducting several world premiere performances by Australian composers. Guest conductor engagements for the 2018/19/20 seasons include return appearances with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Macau Orchestra, West Australian Ballet seasons, the Adelaide Festival Opening Concert with Adelaide Festival Orchestra, Michael Bolton Symphony Tour, engagements with the Dallas Opera, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, WA Philharmonic, Perth Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and as conductor for National Geographic’s ‘Symphony for our World’  which will tour Gold Coast with Camerata, China with Munich Festival Orchestra, Japan in late 2019 and South Africa in early 2020.

Winner of the Brian Stacey Emerging Australian Conductor Award in 2015, Jessica has been a leading advocate for the arts and music education, committed to developing the next generation of artistic leaders. She was listed as one of Australian Financial Review’s ‘100 Most Influential Women’ in Australia and is regularly engaged as presenter and keynote speaker on the topics of the arts, leadership and diversity. Her mentoring positions include roles as Ambassador and faculty for the 2019 Women on the Podium Conducting Workshops (WA), 2019 Online Orchestra Ambassador for AMEB Australia and conducting lecturer at WA Academy of Performing Arts. Jessica was the recipient of a 2016 Winston Churchill Fellowship for Performance Excellence in Classical Music, as well as inaugural alumna of the Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute for Women Conductors, where she has since returned to the company as both Conductor and Assistant Conductor.
