Lorina Gore

Australian soprano Lorina Gore completed her postgraduate voice studies at the Australian National University in Canberra and at the National Opera Studio in London.  Her numerous awards include the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship, the Opera Awards, Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship, and the Australian National Aria Competition.

For Opera Australia Lorina has performed many roles including: Queen of the Night, Die Fiakermilli (Arabella), Amina and Lisa (La sonnambula), Leila (Les pêcheurs de perles), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Violetta, Musetta, Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, Honey B (Bliss; Sydney, Melbourne, Edinburgh Festival), Marzelline (Fidelio) (State Opera of South Australia). Her 2017 performance as Roxana in Krol Roger, earned her a prestigious Helpmann Award.

International performances include the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor Iford Arts, Fiakermilli (Arabella) Garsington Opera, Giulia (La Scala di Seta) Independent Opera, Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Agilea (Teseo) and Sandrina (L’infedeltà delusa) English Touring Opera, Musetta (Hanoi Opera Vietnam), Norina (Don Pasquale) and Violetta (La Traviata) for New Zealand Opera.

In concert, Lorina has appeared with the Sydney Philharmonia, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, Collegium Musicum Choir, Melbourne Bach Choir and all the State Orchestras.  She is regularly invited to perform in China and recorded highlights from Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier with Yvonne Kenny (ABC Classics). She appeared in Handel’s Rodelinda conducted by Richard Bonynge and has toured with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (Ode to Nellie Melba).

2018 Highlights include performing Ophelia in the Australian premiere of Brett Dean’s Hamlet for the Adelaide Festival, appearing in Bernstein Highlight concerts with both Sydney and Adelaide Symphony orchestras. She sings the role of Michal in Saul with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and performs in Opera Australia’s Opera in the Domain and their Great Opera Hits concert series throughout the year.
