Friends of the ASO
Since 1988, a dedicated committee of volunteers has presented an annual program of special events and social activities. Monies raised support sponsorship of Musical Chairs, ASO Annual Appeal, study grants for players and subsidies for musical instruments and equipment.

What's coming up
Monday 27 August at 6:30 pm in the Grainger Studio
Come and pit your wits against Friends, Orchestra players and ASO management, in our major fundraiser of the year. Enjoy an evening of fun and brainpower, play games and bid for in the wonderful items on offer in our auctions.
Concert 4 - Duelling Clarinets
with Dean Newcomb and Mitch Berick
Monday 17 September at 11 am in the Grainger Studio
Our two favourite clarinettists will be back for another duel in September. We know it always ends in a draw and both protagonists leave without a scratch, but we hear some amazing notes played during the course of the battle!
Open Rehearsal - Master Series 6
with Mark Wigglesworth
Friday 21 September at 9:30 am in Adelaide Town Hall
This year the ASO’s Artistic Leadership Team welcomes Mark Wigglesworth as Principal Guest Conductor, and this is an ideal opportunity to hear him in rehearsal for the first half of A Time for Heroes.
Annual General Meeting
with an ensemble of ASO musicians
Monday 15 October at 5:30 pm in the Grainger Studio
There was a bumper turnout for the 2017 AGM, due in part to the 30th birthday celebrations, of course. But come along in 2018 to support the FASO Management Committee—there’s no charge, and cheese and wine will be served.
Concert 5 - The New Timpani
with Robert Hutcheson
Monday 19 November at 11 am in the Grainger Studio
In 2018 the ASO took delivery of a new set of drums, and Principal Timpani Robert Hutcheson is in the process of upgrading his sticks with the help of a Nicky Ayres Study Grant. Come and hear him talk about and perform on the new instruments.
