Friends of the ASO
Since 1988, a dedicated committee of volunteers has presented an annual program of special events and social activities. Monies raised support sponsorship of Musical Chairs, ASO Annual Appeal, study grants for players and subsidies for musical instruments and equipment.
We invite you, as a lover of orchestral music, to enrich your musical interests, add beautiful low-cost concerts to your musical diary and widen your social network, while assisting in raising valuable funds to help ensure the future of the ASO.

Concert 3 – Janet, Emma and Friends

Join violinist Janet and French horn player Emma as they play Mozart and Brahms with friends from the ASO and well-known Adelaide accompanist Damien Mansfield.

Come to the pre-rehearsal talk, followed by an open rehearsal for the first half of the Master Series concert of the year From the Mists of Time with the ASO’s Principal Conductor, then join us in for the Town Hall foyer for a cheese and wine reception.
Concert 4 – Young Musicians

Every year, Urszula Gruzewski works her magic, presenting outstanding young players and ensembles from around Adelaide to showcase the musical talent that abounds in Adelaide. In a departure from the recent cinema music format, this year the performers will present their own favourites featuring a wide range of instruments.

Kooyonga Golf Club in winter is a lovely venue for Friends and their friends to gather and enjoy a delicious meal and fine company, while being serenaded by an ensemble of musicians from our wonderful orchestra.
