In 2020 we invite senior secondary students to explore and perform Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition like never before. Over the course of a week, participants will create a brand-new work in response to Mussorgsky’s masterpiece, taking inspiration not only from his piano score, but from many of the great composers who have given life to his music in the orchestra.
Under the guidance of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s Creative Partner, Paul Rissmann, participants will perform side-by-side with mentors from the ASO. At the end of the week, they will play their newly-created work on-stage at Elder Hall alongside the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
Suitability Instrumental and vocal students aged 15-18 (approx. AMEB grade 5+)

“The ASO’s creative projects challenge young musicians not only to perform to the highest standard possible, but to take full responsibility for the creation of a new piece of music. It’s an intense experience, but the results are always far beyond any of us could ever have imagined.”Paul Rissmann
