Christopher Richardson

Christopher Richardson studied piano at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, before graduating with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Vocal Performance. Christopher has since attended the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School on a Wagner Society of New South Wales scholarship, received the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Aria Award, and the Frances MacEachron Award (Oratorio Society of New York’s Solo Competition) at Carnegie Hall, New York.

Christopher has performed in concert with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, St Andrews Cathedral Sydney, and Allegri Ensemble. His roles in opera include Thoas (Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride), Idreno (Haydn’s Armida) with Pinchgut Opera, Ptolemy in Alexander Balus and the title role (Hercules) with the Canberra Choral Society, Zebul in ‘The Vow’ (Jephtha) with Handel in the Theatre, Canberra, and Bass soloist in Abandon (Handel arr. Crabb) for Opera Queensland/Dancenorth.

Recent highlights include The Enchanted Island (10 Days on the Island Festival, Tasmania), Handel’s Messiah (Sydney), The Genius of J S Bach (Melbourne), Beethoven Mass in C (Victoria Chorale), Brahms Requiem (Festival of Voices), and Fauré Requiem (Perth Symphonic Chorus). Christopher also features on a recording of Calvin Bowman art songs, Real and Right and True (Decca Records).
