Susan Ferguson completed a Bachelor of Music in classical voice at the Elder Conservatorium in 1989 and a Graduate Diploma of Education in 1990.
In 2015 and 2016 Susan was presenter and vocal soloist for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s The Bush Concert. In 2013 and 2014 she was also presenter and vocal soloist for the ASO’s Toe Tapper’s concerts.
From 2002-2013 Susan performed over 500 concerts across Australia and Singapore as lead singer and principal presenter for Musica Viva in Schools jazz ensemble Marmalade Jam. In 2004 she compered the opening ceremony for Come Out which also featured Marmalade Jam. Susan also performs regularly as lead vocalist with jazz group Marmalade Circus including appearances at Carols By Candlelight in Elder Park in 2012 and the 2002 Sydney Festival Jazz in the Domain concert
Susan played the role of Lily in Mother Wife and the Complicated Life touring Australia with the show and performing at the United Nations and 54 Below in New York City. In 2015 she co-wrote and performed in the show Love in the Key of Bacharach which toured for Out of the Square and was part of the Cabaret Under the Star season.
Susan began her professional career in the chorus of the State Opera of South Australia in 1990 and has sung soprano and mezzo-soprano in the chorus ever since, most recently in Tosca.
Susan has taught as a specialist classroom music teacher in High Schools and Primary Schools since 1991. She has also conducted choirs including Uhuru Voices (multicultural choir from Woodville High School/Adelaide Secondary School of English) and the Australian Youth Choir. She currently teaches at a Primary School in the Western suburbs of Adelaide. Susan also has three children.
