Tianyou Ma

Praised for his exquisite sound and expressive artistry, violinist Tianyou Ma is emerging as a compelling voice among today’s young artists. He is a top prize winner at the Sendai International Music Competition, Singapore International Violin Competition (also receiving the Bach Prize), Menuhin International Violin Competition (also receiving the Bach Prize), and the Barbash Bach Competition.

As a soloist, Tianyou has appeared with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Webern Kammerphilharmonie, and The Juilliard Orchestra. He has collaborated with leading chamber ensembles including the Dover Quartet, Rosamunde Quartet, and Ysaÿe String Quartet, and has been featured at the Verbier Festival Academy, Gstaad Strings Academy, and Music@Menlo International Program.

In 2026, Tianyou will continue in the prestigious Artist Diploma program at The Juilliard School under Catherine Cho, where he also serves as her Teaching Assistant. He recently completed his Master of Music at Juilliard as a Kovner Fellow and recipient of the William Schuman Prize for outstanding achievement and leadership. Over the next two years, he will record an album including works by Juilliard composers in gratitude to the institution.

He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music on full scholarship during Bachelors and received the 2023 Milka Violin Artist Prize, and spoke as a commencement speaker. His early training began at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, Australia, under Keith Crellin, before continuing at The Yehudi Menuhin School in the U.K. with Diana Galvydyte, where he was also supported by the U.K.’s Music and Dance Scheme.
