Welcome to Bohemia: a musical world of vivid stories, colourful characters and rich folk traditions. Across three concerts, discover a place where music, theatre and storytelling collide.
Bohemia was a wellspring of musical genius and produced composers devoted to shaping a distinctively Czech sound. First up, the bubbling energy of Smetana’s The Bartered Bride Overture. Suk’s Serenade for Strings is its perfect summery antidote and a prelude to Janáček’s The Fiddler’s Child. Dvořák’s brooding Symphony No.7 combines drama, melancholy, and determination – a defining symphony from one of Bohemia’s greatest composers.
This concert series is generously supported by Pamela and the late Peter McKee.
