Shaw’s Valencia was written about one of life’s sweetest pleasures: a luscious piece of fruit. The work evokes the blazing colour and natural beauty of an orange. You may imagine tasting one as you waltz down the stone streets of Italy; Tchaikovsky wrote Souvenir de Florence during a summer trip. Between these dazzling works you will hear Bach’s vigorous and driving Violin Concerto No.1 in A minor.
