About
Welcome the sunlit season with Frank Bridge’s sweet and pastoral celebration of summer. As the warmth lingers, delve into the poignantly autumnal world of Elgar’s Cello Concerto, with a gorgeously rich blend of melody and melancholy, performed by one of the world’s most sought-after cellists, Daniel Müller-Schott. With its thunderous two sets of timpani, roaring brass, and razor-sharp winds, William Walton’s precocious Symphony No.1 is one of the 20th century’s greatest orchestral showpieces. Expressing a full calendar of emotions, this powerful and exhilarating work concludes this series with a truly dramatic flourish.
