Hear sparks fly
The lengthening shadows of sunset, the dark cloak of the night sky, the mysteries of the human heart – these are the themes of Britten’s spellbinding Serenade. The horn weaves its magic in and around the silvery sounds of the tenor singing the words of legendary English poets. Mozart’s final symphony offers sounds of the greatest richness and splendour: from the bold three chord opening to the finale in which musical ideas fly like lightning through the whole orchestra.
