Make space in your week for extraordinary music.
A mid-week escape to Elder Hall offers something special. With just over 600 seats, you’re close to the musicians and immersed in the hall’s warm, resonant sound. Enjoy the concert, then linger over lunch or take a wander through the city. A beautiful afternoon, with great music at its centre.
Kilar’s Orawa ignites this concert with driving rhythms and the raw energy of Polish highland folk music. Holst’s St Paul’s Suite with its folk-inspired dances and lyrical string writing prefaces a World Premiere by Adelaide composer Belinda Gehlert. Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge pushes musical arguments to breaking point: themes collide, rhythms twist around one another, and the music surges forward with barely a moment to breathe.
The commission and World Premiere of Belinda Gehlert’s New Work is generously supported by the Hon Dr Diana Laidlaw AM.
