Russian soul, American spirit and Swiss precision – Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.3 brings different worlds together in music that is rich with nostalgia, romance and sweeping emotion. Written after Rachmaninov had left Russia and made a new life in the West, it carries a sense of both reflection and progress.
Be among the first to experience Anna Clyne’s powerful new concerto in its Australian Premiere, performed by renowned violist Lawrence Power. Music becomes a canvas for art in all its forms. Clyne’s Resonant Forms draws inspiration from the sculptures of Barbara Hepworth, giving the soulful voice of the solo viola space to explore shape, tension and movement.
In Debussy’s Jeux, the orchestra shimmers with colour and light, like an Impressionist painting brought vividly to life.
The commission and Australian Premiere of Anna Clyne‘s Resonant Forms is generously supported by Ulrike Klein AO.
