Adelaide Town Hall Location

Edward Elgar may be remembered as one of Britain‘s great composers, but behind the public figure was a thoughtful, sensitive and deeply human man. His music was shaped by friendship, love, self-doubt and the people who mattered most to him.

The evening begins with Elgar‘s Violin Concerto – passionate, searching and breathtakingly dazzling in the hands of British violinist Anthony Marwood. Then step into the energy of Edwardian London with Cockaigne, a vivid musical portrait filled with bustling streets, celebration and unmistakable warmth.

Finally, meet the man behind the music. In an Australian Premiere, actor Walter van Dyk steps into the role of Elgar himself, guiding you through the stories, friendships and personalities behind his beloved Enigma Variations. More than a performance, it‘s a chance to experience Elgar’s music through his eyes – and discover the people and emotions hidden within it.

Generously supported by Sibby Sutherland.
