My name is Logan Nutley. I live in a small town called Calliope in Central Queensland. Growing up in an industrial town, I have had very limited exposure to the arts and music until my recent trip to Adelaide. Where I had an experience of a lifetime, thanks to Celia Craig and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

I am 10 years old and the only student in the area learning to play the Oboe. I went to Adelaide with the hope of coming back home a little more knowledgeable and a more competent player after having the help of an experienced Oboe teacher. My expectations were completely blown away.
I can’t thank Celia and the team at the ASO for allowing me pleasure of experiencing the musical brilliance of Classics Unwrapped and the Sound of Australia with William Barton. I was deeply moved and will never forget the magnificent sound produced in the Adelaide Town Hall over the two nights. From the humorous style of Guy Noble, to the spine tingling, goose bump, emotionally overwhelmed feeling of Yidaki: William Barton, I have returned home with an even bigger desire and fire in my belly to follow my dreams. My dreams of: playing music and moving people, telling a story and expressing myself and to one day teach future generations and spread my love of music, especially into regional areas.

Everyone at the ASO was so welcoming and encouraging and I am truly grateful. I hope to return to Adelaide again in the near future and be blown away once again. Who knows? One day I may even be a member of the ASO. For now I will keep on practicing, learning and striving to be the best I can be. I may not have everyday access to the world of music but one thing I do have is an experience of a lifetime to cherish forever.
